Join our team

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our small, tight-knit team and contribute to the future of Siteleaf in a meaningful and rewarding way.

Siteleaf powers thousands of websites from independent blogs to Fortune 500 companies, with a passionate following among developers (we are a product for developers, made by developers). We just released an all-new Siteleaf v2, and have big ideas for the future. Right now is the perfect time to join our team, and help reimagine the future of static websites.

We are looking for someone with a strong code background (Ruby) and a passion for product design. You are not only interested in writing code, but making a product you love to use on every day. You will work closely with our team of designers and developers, collaborate on product vision, take ownership, and execute on your ideas. As a team we enjoy blurring the lines of design and engineering, and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration as much as possible.

You will have some combination of the skills listed below, but always continue to learn and grow along with the product.

Responsibilities

  • Driving technical direction of core products
  • Writing application code and reviewing pull requests
  • Maintaining and contributing to open source projects
  • Documenting APIs and software you help build
  • Server deployment, scalability, and performance enhancements
  • Working with customers to resolve issues and make product improvements

Skills & Experience

  • Strong Ruby experience and coding practices
  • Familiarity with our product and related technology (Jekyll, Liquid, Markdown, etc)
  • RESTful API design
  • Experience with databases (MongoDB, Redis)
  • Web application stack (Nginx, Rack, Sinatra, etc)
  • Amazon Web Services (Elastic Beanstalk, EC2, S3, etc)
  • Test-driven development (RSpec, etc)
  • Git and GitHub

Bonus Points

  • You are a Siteleaf user!
  • Experience with Ruby Gems and open source projects
  • Continuous integration and automation
  • Docker and secure code environments (Hoosegow, etc)
  • Frontend web development (JavaScript, Haml, Sass)

Siteleaf is made by Oak, a Brooklyn-based team of designers and developers who also make Dropmark and a number of other projects.

While New York is preferred, we may consider remote for the right person. We are an equal opportunity team and value diversity at our company. Let’s be awesome together!

Sound like you?

Send an email to team@siteleaf.com and introduce yourself.

p.s. Sound interesting but not sure you have the experience? We’re also looking for a fall intern later this year.
